If an unconcious patient falls to the floor how do i know im not makeing damage to him if i get him up?
Question:
Answers:
Never move an unconscious person if you didn't see how they fell. They could have hit their head or back on something. If they did, you could be causing SERIOUS neck, head or back damage. THE ONLY instance in which you would move such a person would be if the scene is no longer safe, or they are in the water.
Other Answers:
Wait for a doctor to check the patient over. At least have a nurse look him/her over, just to be sure.
Try not to move his neck, sudden jolts to an unconcious person could damage their spine/back.
you dont know which is why they tell you not to move the person unless they are in immediate danger.
Get a doctor!
Be careful and observant. Beware that swells on unusual parts of body can mean broken bones.
if you seen him hit the floor...hard, secure the c-spine, and dont move the neck. this is the most important part. EMT training.
You need to have the patient assessed by someone who has medical training. Move him only if he is in danger on the floor. And don't try to move him by yourself.
Why are you getting him up? Wait for nurse or EMT.
If you're using the term "patient" that should mean you're in a health care facility- go get someone who knows more.
If you're worried about just generally helping any unconscious person you might find, you should take basic first aid and CPR training.
It's better to leave him on the floor until he regains some consciousness and can tell you if he's in pain.
Get help. When you say it's a patient, I'm assuming this is in a medical facility. Get a professional on the scene ASAP. If he doesn't regain any consciousness he may need to be moved and this should be done by people who know what they are doing.
If you don't, get help.
thats y u dont pick him up.....u need to stabalize him as is...unless he is in danger to stay there. any movement and u r taking a risk. u should always stabaliz and administer 1st aid.
