Can scoliosis go without treatment?

Question:
My son who is 9, was dignosed with mild scoliosis, and the doctor said that to let it be, the only recomendation was that he should not carry anything heavy on his back.

Answers:
scoliosis is a back disorder that has to do with he curving of the spine. I have it myself, and some people have to wear back braces at night or even out in public depending on the severity of their case. Anywhere under a 25 degree curve point should be something not too bothersome, but because your son is at such a young age; the scoliosis may curve more as time goes on. Let your kid live freely because it sounds like the mild case shouldn't worsen and your doctor knows what he is talking about. Some people eventually have to get their back fused to prevent further damage but I wouldn't be worried if I were you! I'm still pretty young and had a 28 degree curve but now I'm down to a 20 degree.

Good luck

Other Answers:
Oh yeah, if it's mild. It depends on the degree. Up to a point no one cares, then there's a range where they just keep track of it, and it has to get pretty far before it gets dangerous. I've got a six degree curve and they just check it every time I get a physical to make sure it's not changing.
