when you sneeze why is it you sneeze once three or five times??

Some people sneeze only once, others sneeze several times in a row. I don't think there's a whole scientific explaination as to why it happens that way, it just does. For me it's one sneeze, but my mom sneezes like seven times in a row. I think it just depends on the person and the state of their sinuses. My mom has had so many problems with her sinuses. Maybe that's why.

Maybe whatever you are trying to sneeze out is still stuck. Obviously something is making you sneeze and won't stop until it's gone. =)

A sneeze is from a tickle or irritation in your nose, or upper throat. (mucus areas). So until that irritation or tickle goes away you will keep sneezing and spitting out (people spray saliva and air from their mouths and mucus + air from their nose when sneezing).

I have often wondered that myself. I think it has something to do with your body's rhythm.

You sneeze to push out bad stuff, theoretically you should sneeze until it's out. I have heard that your heart skips a beat or changes it's rhythm when you sneeze so perhaps you sneeze enough times to correct the heart beat.
