what's the white gooey stuff that forms at the corners of some people's mouths sometimes?

Question: i assume its spit mixed with whatever else but what is it? why do some people get that? It's expecially evident to me as my lipstick wears off.

I believe its the saliva that dries up and bacteria that gets in your mouth throughout the night.
