Most of the time muscle spasms and "charlie horse" things can be remedied with increasing your potassium intake. Potassium will help allow more calcium into your muscles, thus reducing cramping. Hope this helps.

Generally, in people of good health, muscle spasms/cramps, are caused by low potassium levels, and/or fatigue induced buildup of toxins in the muscles. Eating bananas, or other potassium rich foods will help alleviate the problem. Potassium pills available at the pharmacy will also help.

What works for my leg cramps is taking an 8oz. glass of orange juice and two (2) 99mg potassium tablets. If my muscles continue to pull, I have to keep walking and trying to stretch out the pull. Also, stretching before and after I do any exercises or go for a walk, helps to keep my muscles from pulling.
