Popping hip Joint?
Question:

I developed this problem when I was 10 and although most people outgrow it by their late teens, I didn't. What causes it is your bone growing faster than your muscles. The muscle that goes from your hip to your knee is not long enough to glide smoothly over the hip joint right now; instead it catches and sometimes pops (feels funky when you have your hand over it when it does that, too, doesn't it?) If you're like most folks, things will even out eventually. Until then, you can't avoid it, just figure out how to deal w/ the pain. You can also do a few exercises to help stretch the muscle. One is traditional leg lifts (lay on your side and slowing raise and lower your leg). Another variation of that invloves laying on your side and crossing your top leg over your bottom with the heel flat on the floor in front that knee. Lift the leg that is on the floor and hold for a few counts, then lower it. Try to avoid the strenous stuff when you feel achy, and when you have a bad pop soak in a hot bath and take an anti-inflammitory like Advil or Naprosyn. Also, watch your weight! Extra pounds seem to make things worse. Hope it gets better for you 'cuz it ain't no fun!
Arthritis has more than 100 kinds and it hits anyone at any AGE. That's why we have Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and several other juvenile arthtrides. We also have a certain consition called the "snapping hip" condition. This is when a "click" can be heard whenever we flex a hip joint. The books say that it is not a cause for alarm, that the clicking is due to the riding of the ligament on your bone. Pain on the other hand can be caused by either the bone structure around the hip or the muscles supporting it.
What you can do is try to strengthen hip muscles around the area of your hip. Eg. your abdominal muscles, gluteas medius, anterior mucsle groups. Also, try not to stress your hips by not lifting heavy objects. If the symptoms bothers you that much and if the pain is rated 8/10. I suggest you see a doctor.
It could simply be an alignment issue with you hip joint - if the Femur bone and the pelvis are not being held in correct alignment you could experience a popping, try strengthening the low abdominal muscles to support the pelvis, or it could also be tightness in the hip flexor muscles. Try a kneeling lunge forward to stretch the hip flexors out.
