Nurses in United U.K?

The Home Office in the United Kingdom have just brought in a new rule that nursing is no longer an important occupation and as so it will not be a reserved occupation for getting to U.K. Now there are many other countries like America and Spain that will accept these nurses and treat them right. What I don't like is that Nurses that have settled in U.K but have not been here long enough to become citizens are not going to renew their work permits. These nurses are worried what the future holds and think they will lose their jobs and be sent back to their own country. The nursing unions are going to fight the government over these new rules, this is their only chance. Do you believe these nurses have been betrayed by Britain?. What should be done. I am not a nurse but I will be on the picket lines when and if the Government try to inforce this rule. The United Kingdom will have a national nursing strike if this law is enforced and as nursing strikes are illegal these become crimi

This year in Devon, many student nurses will have no jobs when they qualify. Except for the private sector. I don't think existing Nurses from over seas should lose their rights to work here, but it is the job of the government to ensure that Nursing is seen as an attractive, well paid job that appeals to people in England. If Nursing was seen as a career, maybe the government wouldn't of had to look abroad to fill the wards. Likewise, many English nurses are moving abroad for the same reasons.

Yes I do think the nurses have been treated unfairly and the doctors.
This was a case of we didn't have enough so we made an attractive deal to a lot of nurses especially from the Philippines about 5 - 10 years ago and Doctors from Asia especially in areas of the profession where no one wanted to work. e.g. Psychiatry
All the trust are cutting back on staff because they have over spent.
They have had a recruitment drive and a lot of people in the UK have trained to be Doctors and Nurses.
So it sounds to me like they are saying thanks for moving over here and all that but we don't need you anymore according to the British Government and the Health trusts.

i am a rgn in a hospital the trouble is when foreign nurses come over as they cannot speak the language very well there are often drug errors, where the patient has been very unwell, how would you feel if you're family member was in hospital and something happened, also as someone said with the newly qualifying student nurses there are no jobs in the nhs for them, when they have just done 3 years hard training, i think this government has looked after and put foreign people before the English for to long and it's about time we came before them, they have hospitals in there country
