What are symtoms for a fractured heel?

Question:
I hurt my foot last night and am in a lot of pain.

Answers:
pain and swelling. a lot of times xrays do not catch the fracture, you need a 3-phase bone scan to rule out a calcaneal fracture. i do have a great website for you that has several articles and products to help you out. check out the source for a direct link to site, i think it will help you out with your diagnosis. falling from a height of more the six feet (and landing on feet)is the normal culprit for a calcaneal fracture
ummmmmmm pain and u cant walk at all unless on wheelchair and or crutches
Swelling of foot and ankle, bruising, and A LOT OF PAIN
Should have radiating pain to your injury area and up your leg when pressure is applied.
Where exactly does it hurt and how did you do it? Fracture of a calcaneus (the big heel bone) requires a significant amount of force- most commonly landing on it after jumping from a great height (i.e. falling off a ladder) or an insane amount of direct contact to the site (i.e. car accident). You'll have excessive pain (feels like its shooting to that spot no matter what part of your foot is touched/bumped), swelling and usually bruising (amount and how quickly depends on the person). If you have a less traumatic injury then you could have a really nasty heel bruise which, though painful, can be much more easily addressed (i.e. heel cups for your shoes). My advice to you- ice to address pain and keep the swelling under control, stay off of it when you can, try some OTC anti-inflammatories you aren't allergic to (i.e. Advil), and get an appointment to have a medical professional perform imaging and if nothing else rule out a fracture. Professional advice should always be recieved if you suspect a broken bone- and the piece of mind of knowing that you aren't walking around exacerbating a fracture may help quite a bit in itself
