what is the best posture in YOGA?

THE BOOKS TELL A LONG STORY AND ONE CANNOT DECIDE WHICH ONES ARE ESSENTIAL ONES.

Answers:
All the poses are good for you, however, if I were to choose only 10 poses for a beginner to do in order to work and stretch all your muscles, here are my choices with some of their benefits

In no particular order:

- downward facing dog / adho mukha svanasana: strengthens and tones the arms and legs

- triangle / utthita trikonasana: shapes the legs, builds the chest

-tree / vrksasana: tones and strengthens shoulders and legs

-extended side angle / utthita parvakonasana: builds stamina, strengthens the joints

-warrior II / virabardasana II: strengthens the back and abdominal muscles, makes arms and legs more powerful

-standing forward bend / uttanasana: improves circulation, stretches hamstrings, stimulates the organs-- stomach, liver, kidneys and heart

-upward facing dog / urdva mukha svanasana: makes the spine strong and supple

-paschimottanasana / seated forward bend: stretches the back and hamstrings, invigorates abdominal organs

-shoulderstand / sarvangasana: refreshes the body and soothes the nerves, improves functioning of vital organs, glands and nerves

-headstand / sirsasana: increases circulation to the brain, strengthens the entire body (if you are a beginnner, please do this against the wall)
