Does anyone know how long it wil take to stop the withdrawal syptoms of Xanax? I stopped Cold 5 days ago.?

Question:
I have stopped this drug before, with no problem. This time, I get mean and have yelled at people. My skin is itchy. Also, and this question is a biggy...I looked all over the net and could not find info: I have chronic pain due to Rheumtoid Arthritis. It is usually manageble with pain meds. Now, I have been in screaming pain since the day after I stopped the Xanax. I can barely move and the meds don't touch it.
Thanks Mod

the withdrawals could last up to 2 weeks....It could be a month before you feel "normal" again.
The Xanax has withdrawal symptoms, on it's own. Talk to a doctor about what dosage to take, to get off of it. The pain is a different issue... Try doing a search, on: drweil.com and search your question..
SLEEP! In a very cool room, with no disturbances or communication from/with the outside world. Dill up some dreams and fantasies in your sleep, drink lots of cold water and keep this up for a weekend. You'll fell like shites, but in the end it may work out for you.
You need to call a Dr or Medical help line, or get some professional help. Xanax is addictive. It's a benzodiazopine which is used to treat anxiety. I speak from experience, I was addicted to benzos without even knowing and had to go through a rehab -program where they helped me deal with the withdrawls. So get yourself to a medical professional, I don't know how serious your dosage i, but its nothing to fool around with.
It is dangerous to stop your meds suddenly. You should see your doctor as soon as you can. He or she can taper you off the drug.
Why did you stop taking your Xanax? The physical symptoms of withdrawal usually last a couple of weeks. The severity of the symptoms depends on how high your dosage was and how long you've been taking the medications. Its never a good idea to stop a medication without consulting your physician. Many medications need to be tapered off to avoid problems that can be dangerous.
