who here thinks that some optomitrists force glasses on you even when you have perfect vision as a child?

Question:
i was one of them i think

Answers:
I don't think optomotrists 'force' glasses on you, but I think they will give a prescription when it really may not be necessary. I MADE SURE my son needed glasses before I ran out and got them. Also because I believe what my opthamolgists told me 20 years ago... that they weaken the eyes and make you need higher and higher prescriptions and dependency on glasses for everything.

My son received a prescription for glasses in 2nd grade. He was found to have slight nearsightedness (exactly like me and I only need glasses to drive). I told the nurse I was not going to get my son glasses to read the blackboard. He can sit close to the board. It will only weaken his eyes. I delayed getting the glasses for 2 years... got them in 4th grade and encourage him not to wear them unless absolutely necessary. Instead of being dependent on them (like most kids), he only wears them when he needs to and therefore is NOT dependent on them therefore NOT weakening his eyes further.

Duh, because you obviously don't now. Moron!
You must need them now.
