Head injury, no health insurance not sure what to do.need some input?

Question:
Last nite I sat down on the toilet. The next thing I know I'm on the floor with horrendus pain in both neck and head. There is only 2 or 3 feet from the toilet to the concrete wall. I reached up and there was this huge knot on both forehead and scalp. It bruised immeadiatly. I looked in the mirror and my pupils were the size of needle point. I was extremely light headed. I threw up several times. The pain was awful in both head & neck. This morning the bruising was obivous and the knot seemed bigger & my pupils were huge. I have no health insurance so if I'm just being a baby or over reacting then I'd to know before I spend thousands of dollars. Maybe I should also mention that I have a herniated disk in my neck. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I've given you all the info I can. Oh, I haven't any kind of appatite, I threw up a total of 5 days with the last tine being around 5am but I've had constant nausea since the ordeal.

i'm hoping that as i am writing this-you have already called someone to take you to the emergency room

i work in trauma icu-we specialize in head injuries. from the sound of it-you have sustained a severe concussion and need to seek medical attention NOW.

the fact that you are having changes in your pupils indicates there is injury to your brain-this could indicate a bleed and in severe cases-these require surgery!

please, please have someone drive you to the hospital (do NOT drive yourself), if there is nobody to take you CALL 911!

head injuries are very serious and can worsen rapidly with no warning at all. you need to have a ct scan of your head done to make sure there is no bleeding or swelling going on inside your brain
honey please go to doctor. no amount of medical bills is worth your life. i will pray for you
wherever it happened at there should be insurance, injuries are usually covered no matter where they happen. i.e,., homeowners insurance, even if you are renting. it don't matter if it was a result of an ear problem or a sezure-the point is you sustained an injury on the property and there should be some medical allowance included in the insurance.
You need to go to the ER. A.S.A.P. It sounds like you have a concussion and this is very serious. They cannot refuse you, because you have no health insurance. You might also qualify for public assistance. Some states have a lot of different programs that you may or may not know about. The ER might be able to help you fill out the forms. Good luck to you and please just go to the hospital.
You ABSOLUTELY NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. You have a major concussion, and all the vomiting has made you dehydrated. The dehydration can cause a very quick loss of Postassium, which your heart needs to function properly.
Don't let health insurance be an issue - take the time and have a friend or family member drive you to a county hospital - that's what they are for - people without insurance.
Listen to all who already answered your question, specially Elmo and Rosey gave you very good advise.
no hospital can refuse you yreatment.
social worker there will take care of your bills.
you can go to any hosp, it is the law, they can't turn you away,
after your treatment talk to the social worker at the hosp, they will help you, pay or not pay at all.
been there done that. you don't have to worry.
please go to the hosp now. you could have something really life threating. GOD BLESS YOU
There are many ways to obtain personal injury insurance and there are many informative professionals who can offer you good advice. Good luck
go to the ER they have financial plans based on income for self paying patients, but worry about that after the going to ER to figure out what is wrong with you, those do not sound like every day symptoms of flu. you can try a website called howmuchdoc.com to see if in your area there are physicians willing to see self pay patients for discount rates, but go to ER first, use that source for follow up once a diagnosis is made.
IT SICKENS ME THAT PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE TO BASE THEIR DECISION ON HEALTH INSURANCE!
I am sorry to hear that and you need to go in and be checked at the Emergency Room. Please sont worry about the insurance.
Most county hospitals will take you through emergency even if you don't have insurance. You really really should go to emergency. Have someone drive you.

It sounds like you have a major concussion, you need to see a doctor.
You should get health insurance asap before you go to the doctor if you are worried about the expense.

Why should I purchase health insurance when I’m able to get free care at a Free Health Clinic?
Free clinics are helpful for basic care and emergencies, but they are not equipped for all necessary types of testing, specialist care and surgical procedures. If you are diagnosed with a condition that requires surgery or expensive medical tests you will be responsible for the cost of your care. Even if you receive minor surgery, it may cost you several thousand dollars. Despite the numerous resources available at the Hirschfeld Clinic, it cannot provide all the health services you may need.

If I need an expensive procedure, I’ll get health insurance then.
If you receive costly medical care within the first 12 months of getting health insurance, you may be required to PAY FOR YOUR CARE WITH YOUR OWN MONEY! Insurance companies do not have to cover pre-existing medical conditions (anything you’ve been diagnosed with or treated for in the previous six-months) for up to one year from the start of the policy. In order to avoid such a waiting period, once you get insurance you should always maintain it. As long as there is not a gap of more than 63 days between health insurance plans, you are protected.

Health insurance is best found by investing time, educating yourself and comparison shopping. InsureMe http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?ref. & other sites are designed to be an invaluable resource for insurance shoppers like you in this process. Once again, shop around, get multiple quotes, and learn all you can about a policy before you buy health insurance.

Take care,
