Yes. I had the procedure. It was done on an outpaitent basis. I was given a medicine to relax me and a strong pain medicine. I was partially awake because the medicine made me sleepy. My pain management doctor injected numbing medicine first/cortisone/other medicine into the facet joint for the purpose of relieving herniated disc pain. The procedure took about 15-30 min. The wait was not long maybe a half an hour and then waiting for the doctor. You are released the same day and given a prescription for pain in case of soreness in your back. I was also given time off from work because even though it was a simple procedure, it was done in an outpatient surgery center so it was considered surgery like any other procedure. You should have someone with you to drive you home because you may be dizzy and still out of it from the local anesthesia. Good Luck and I hope this relieves your pain. Unfortunately for me, mine came back shortly.
