Yes, use 66 for team surgery on the Part B claim
Live donor hepatectomy, “backbench” preparations and transplant surgeries are Physicians’ Services that may be submitted to the Carrier (Part B) under the transplant recipients Medicare number. These surgeries are subject to all Medicare Global Surgery rules. When these services are performed on the same date of service in adjacent rooms they should all be reported on the same claim form with a 66 modifier applied to the transplant procedure codes (47135, 47136) to ensure correct payment.
Other Answers:
Medicare won't pay for transplants. At least nthey didn't 7 years ago when my husband got his. You should contact Medicare directly though. Sounds like you don't have any secondary insurance either- tough break
