Severed tendons?

Question:
My surgeon stitched everything and told me to not to put any weight on it for 3months. now it has been 4months and have been working out lifting weights without any pain. Does exercising reduce the internal scarring that occurred over time and new tissues are formed?

Answers:
It won't reduce the scarring, but will strengthen the tendon's hold on both the bone and the muscle. Be careful while placing resistance on it, however; tendons have very few nerve endings, so the lack of pain doesn't necessarilly mean lack of damage. Please consult your doctor before getting too gung-ho, and ask for their opinion regarding how much trust you can put in the area for now.
