For Type II DM, lose weight if you are overweight and keep away from high-glycemic (simple and processed sugars) foods.
avoid sugar as much as possible. also, try to avoid, pasta, rice and bread, for these break down in our body turning into glucose when digested. aslo, fruits like mango.
Control your diet and exercise and of course eat healthy. Even though it is hard to get use to a healthy lifestyle, don't worry the more u get used to it - the more u will like it!
There are two answers to this question. First answer is - You can't prevent diabetes if its genetic. Like type 1 and some type 2.
The second answer is to exercise and maintain a healthy weight, especially as you get into the older ages.
eat/drink less sugar. one suggestion is replacing fruit drinks with actual fruits and cut out midnight snacks if you have those. doesn't help much, sorry.
