I need to know what avenue to persue to get help till I can get my SS until then I dont know what I am goning to do and I thought if anyone had been through the wait maybe they could help

You should apply for two programs: general assistance and LIHEAP. I am not sure exactly what they may be called in your state. In NM this is what we call them. General assistance (cash aide) is a program for disabled individuals waiting to qualify for social security or who are disabled temporarily. LIHEAP is a low income energy assistance program that for those that qualify get help once a year with a utility bill. The amount of help they receive depends on their income. In most states these programs are offered through The Human Services Department. Most states have a website you can start the application process with. I hope that gives you a start. I am in this field and I know it is very hard when you are in a situation where you are disabled and needing help.

call down to the social services or human services in the county where you live. ask to talk to a financial worker and set up an appointment. bring along all of the financial paperwork you can think of. the financial worker will know which programs you would qualify for and they can also help you fill out the paperwork.
