I am a piano teacher, and my work requires close contact with children, lots of whom have infections, strep throats and or colds. I used to come down with every sickness around, until I learned the best secret to preventing sickness.
REALLY - this absolutely works! The absolute best way to ward off a sore throat/cold/flu is mega doses of vitamin C combined with lots of sleep.
Take about 2000 mg. of vitamin C every 2 hours. (I like the chewable tablets.) If you happen to get loose bowels,(I never did), back the amount off just a little. Along with this, you need to sleep as much as you can. Together, this works about 90 percent of the time to get rid of the sore throat and restore you to perfect health.
If you want to, as an additional treatment, you can also gargle with warm salt water, although that is not necessary.
drink a warm cup of tea
