How do i prevent a sore throat from getting bigger?

Question: I have a small sore throat that i think i got from screaming so much at 6 flags to days ago or maybe it was the climate change idk, but how do i prevent it from getting into a bigger sore throat or even a cough?

Okay...here's the plan:

Gargle warm saltwater, or eat some chicken noodle soup.
Drink a lot of clear liquids (No dairy/milk)
Rest your voice...don't talk or do anymore screaming.

Have you recently had a stuffy nose, or do you have allergies?
If so, maybe the sinus drainage in the back of your throat is causing it to hurt....If so, take mucinex with lots of water (check with parents/doc first...I don't know your age.)

Buy some hard candy if you don't have diabetes...those work as well as halls or vicks cough drops, and taste much better.
