I need Help on a report from my MRI?

Question:
Can someone tell me exactly what these MRI Results mean? I received my report back but I don't go back to the doctor for a couple of days. I was wondering if anyone with medical info could help me with this report is saying is wrong and what I need to do:

THERE IS FACET JOINT ARTHROSIS PRESENT AT L4-5.

THERE IS A ATYPICAL CONFIGURATION AT THE SACROCOCCYGEAL JUNCTION WITH THE COCCYX COMING OFF AT A MORE INFERIOR ANGLE THAT NORMALLY SEEN AND SUBSEQUENT RE-COURSING ANTERIORLY. THIS COULD
REFLECT PREVIOUS TRAUMA.

IMPRESSION;

FACET JOINT ARTHROSIS AT L4-5.
WITH THE POSTERIOR ELEMENT HYPERTROPHY, THE SPINAL
CANAL MEASURES 9 MM AT L4-5 MILD DEFORMITY AT THE SACROCOCCYGEAL JUNCTION.

Answers:
This is nothing emergent that you need to be worried about. Your doctor will be able to discuss it with you further and explain how it relates to whatever reason you sought the MRI originally.

Facet Joint Arthrosis is basically a re-organization of the bony tissue where two vertebrae meet each other. It is sometimes refered to as arthritis, though they differ somewhat in the exact underlying process.

The findings regarding your coccyx merely show that your tail bone is a little more straight than curved. As stated, possibly due to a fall or other trauma.

Luckily--and I'm only offering this as additional information to talk to your doctor--what it DOESNT state is good news. There is no mention of spinal canal or spinal nerve root impingement. Therefore, there is no defect which is rubbing against or otherwise physically aggravating a nerve AT your spine.

Good luck to you. Dont worry. Do discuss any concerns with your physician.

An MRI is Magnestic Resonance Imaging, with uses a huge magnet to scan your body, inside and out. The impression is basially stating there is a condition of deterioration (arthritis) at lumbar discs 4-5 (L4-5) which is mid-low back area. It looks like instead of the sacrum and coccyx, or tailbone and the discs just above it, following the nice curve it should, it's pointing toward the front of your body. (What previous trauma is he talking about, were you in an accident?) It sounds like you're in pain. Hope they can work something out for you.
Basically what this means is that you have a problem with one of the discs in you back possibly due to an injury.I have back problems too and my MRI was similar.
