Hip pain information?

Question:
I have pain most times in my hips, sometimes both, sometimes just one, sometimes when sitting or walking or sleeping, advil doesn't cut it anymore.Looking for information/suggestions.
I am a 52 y/o male.

Answers:
It could be a case of arthritis but I encourage you to go see a doc for some x-rays and an MRI of your lower back as problems in the lumbar spine can often cause hip pain.
Man, i am about to have a total hip replacement so i can feel your pain.............i am on Lortab, a narcotic pain med amoung other ones. What happened to me is i was doing physical therapy for my back (i had 2 major back surgeries last yr) and suddenly my left hip started hurting really bad and my right knee just swelled up horribly. So i went to an ortho dr .and he did x-rays and said you need a THR and he also drained my knee. (OUCH). So i went for a 2nd opinion and this other ortho dr, said the same thing...but said....before we do anything i want an MRI on that knee being that i couldn't do rehab on my hip with a bum knee, right? So that is where i'm at.........i go see him in 3 days for the knee MRI results.........at this point i'm just ready to have the HR and everything.........i'm in sooooooo much pain i can't even sleep at night.....i have to take pills to help me sleep...it's a mess so if i were you i would get to a good ortho dr. and let him do x-rays and see what is really going on!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!
