Is the "50 First Date's" selective amnisia real?

My boyfirend has susstained a couple of pretty good head injuries at work over the past week or so. Both were accidents, but he is complaining of not remembering how to do certain tasks today. A news article said this could be permanent? Should we be woried today? There were no other symptoms other than a head ache until today.

He should have an EEG which looks at the brain waves.
And hopefully he reported it to the Worker Compension Board at work. Especially with him not remembering certain tasks.
