I have a small burn on my leg from a motorbike exhaust pipe which has now blistered.should i pop the blister ?
Question:
Answers:
Never pop a blister. It is the body's way of placing a protective coating of fluid over top of a burn to help insulate it from infection while it heals.
Other Answers:
just leave it put some ointment on it
no, it will heal better if it pops on its own. just cover it with a bandaid.
they hurt the same thing happened to me, just leave it don't pop it
yea, always pop a blister, it'll only reform and its fun to pop, go ahead
see doc
No, it can get infected. Try to cover it with a dressing or some gauze and it will burst eventually. You could put some calamine lotion, Savlon etc. on if it's starting to itch or get tender. When it does pop, make sure you keep it clean and covered until the skin heals again.
put a bandaid on it as tight as possible, the body should reabsorb the fluid. if you pop it , its sure you will scar.
no, i think you're supposed to let it just open on its own naturally.
certainly not, its your bodies way of protecting the area, just leave your body to do its thing
No, that could be bad
no! never pop a blister. it is a natural way for your body to protect the skin. the blister will go down on it's own. If you pop the blister you risk infection
Do not pop the blister leave it alone. no ointment nothing. your body is healing itself. However if you note puss or greenish yellow fluid coming from the burn than go to doctor for treatment, possible infection.
no
No. The fluid inside is sterile and will protect the tissue.
If you burst the blister, you could get an infection which will not be nice.
You are more prone to infection if you burst it. Better to keep the area clean and covered until it bursts itself.
do not pop the blister ! it will dry in a few day just put some cream like moistoricing ( i own a motorbike and i know how painfull it is!!!!!!!!!!!)
Pop it, then it will dry up faster and the healing process can begin. leaving the blister will make it painful and the fluids need to comeout.
really depends how big and how long you got it if its big and you burst it it will leave a scar depending on the size of burn if it say under an inch wide then yes pierce with a pin be sure it is sterile before you do
hope this helps if its very bad you may need to dress it wit gause
if you do pop it, make sure you clean it lots and and keep it clean. i usually pop blisters but thats cause im just a rebel. lol. but i make sure not to let it get infected either. i find that they go away a lot sooner when you pop them.
all of these people who say it will scar and never to pop it and ****, are just being dumb. i pop them all the time and i dont have any scars. they heal faster when popped. it wont get infected. trust me.
if you are paranoid about it scaring just use a pin and make a pin hole in it and drain it, and disinfect it. it will heal before long.
No if you pop it it will leave a bigger scar and the fluid there is protecting you from infection. If it starts to get really painful and doesnt seem to heal then you should see a doctor, ouch burns hurt so much!!
no.it can get infected...!!
As a nurse who has worked in A&E we used to frequently pop burn blisters but treatment and research has changed on the do's and dont's! If you pop the blister the pain will be relieved as the pressure will disappear. To do this you need something sterile, (you could use a needle after soaking it in boiling water) then keep the area covered compltley with a sterile dressing (you can but adhesive gauze at the chemists. It would heal quicker then leaving a big blister!!!
No - it will sting like hell. I had this when I was about 16 and the 'blister' went right from below my knee to up near the top of my leg and it was soooo uncomfortable, but when it did pop (I caught it by accident) it was agony. Wait and let you body heal itself.
NO!! I made that mistake, I had a burn on the top of my leg from a hotwater bottle and i popped it. I now have a hideous scar there, so leave it well alone!! Resist the urge!!
no whatever you do don't pop it, the blister is then open for infection
no, but it may pop on it's own,
do not pop the blister-you could spread any germs that might be inside to the rest of your leg and it also leaves you vunerable for infection.
wash the area well with warm water and mild soap-ivory or dove work best
apply a thin layer of neosporin to the burn or vitamin E oil works well too. cover with gauze and tape.
you can take motrin for pain and swelling. 200-400mg every 6 hours but do not take more than 1200mg in 24 hours.
change the burn dressing twice a day and try your best to keep it dry
things to watch for that would indicate it's becoming infected and you'll need to seek medical attention from an urgent care or emergency room asap are:
1. a sudden fever of 101 or more
2. the blister has opened and is now draining yellowish-brown or green liquid
3. you have increased swelling to the area
4. you have red lines extending up your leg from the burn site (this indicates infection is now in your bloodstream and you'll need iv antibiotics asap)
hope this helps you
As someone who suffered 26% burns and had blisters the size of carrier bags, DO NOT pop that blister, let nature take its course and the healing process will be infection free.
No! By popping the blister, it simply gives it more opportunity to become infected and can also promote a blood infection, which is very very serious.
Leave the blister be, put ointment on it to soothe it. If it should pop, then put antibacterial salve on it and keep it covered.
i had one on my finger yesterday from a cigarette burn put a pin in it to let the puss out then stick a plaster on it should be ok then mate
