I have a deep cough?

Question:
I only cough about 5-10 times a day, but its a really loud & deep cough. How do I get rid of this? I don't have any other symptoms of being sick, except the fact I had a cold a few weeks ago.

Answers:
You probably have some phlegm (mucus) residual of your cold. If the cough is productive (if you feel some mucus in your chest) then I recommend a product with guaifenesin (eg. Robitussin). If it's non-productive (dry or coarse cough) then a product with dextromethorphan (eg. Delsym) its indicated. Avoid combination products (ie. containing both guaifenesin & dextromethorphan). Drink a lot of water to help loose the phlemg and alleviate your throath.

Other Answers:
Decongestant should help..

you should go see your doctor Do you smoke? That will make it worse. It is not uncommon to have a lingering cough a few weeks after having a cold. It usually is like a tickling in your throat that makes you start coughing. It is just cleaning up the leftovers.
