Does a FAST paced heart cause anything in the short or long run, if u take too much energy drinks? unhealthy?
Question:
Answers:
tachycardia (rapid heartrate) can have severe and even fatal effects if not treated...
caffeine in general is bad for you if taken in large amounts over a prolonged period of time. it caused stress not only to your heart but your arteries and blood vessels ( from blood pressure rising to keep up with heartrate increase), can cause damage to your kidneys-having to flush out the excess caffeine-which also flushes out the much needed amount of calcium your body uses to maintain bone mass. this can result in kidney stones forming along with decreased bone density-which cause bones to become more brittle and suseptible to fractures and bone loss.
tachycardia causes decreased cardiac output (the amount of oxygen rich blood your heart pumps out to your body). this is caused b/c the ventricles don't have enough time to fill completely with blood b/c the heart is pumping too fast.
second-it causes the heart to require more oxygen while also reducing blood flow to the cardiac muscle tissue which causes ischemia (decreased blood flow to the heart itself) which can lead to heart attack and possibly death.
the sports is probably a good thing for keeping you overall healthy but adding things that are high in caffeine and energy drinks that have alot of unecessary herbs and caffeine in them are going to hurt you in the long run-you'll have more cardiac problems than you probably bargained for. i would stick with gatorade since you are so active with the sports-you're heart is already getting a workout-it doesn't need to be worked out to the point of stopping.
Yes, an overworked heart can cause strokes and heart attacks. The heart is not designed to be pushed constantly.
