Studies have shown that life expectancy for Paraplegics is lower than normal. As to what extent their life span is reduced depends on a number of other factors such as the cause of Paraplegia, the severity, age of onset and presence or absence of co-mobird factors etc.
However the good news is that life expectancy in paraplegics is increasing and is much higher than what it was in the past.
They are often more prone to infections illness, but with proper care, they can live a normal life span
