Firstly to ensure proper tissue health it would be a good idea to take some Glucosamine Sulphate with MSM. This is an amino sugar and sulphur compound that is paramount in maintaining healthy joint cartillage and connective tissue.

A proper range of resitstence training for the legs in general will strengthen the knee by strengthening the muscles that support and operate that joint.

A physical trainer will be able to devise a good program for that and it will include things like lunges, leg curls, squats, leg extensions, stepping, inner thight squezzes etc. Be sure to include stretching in there as well. Flexability is very important and is a major factor in overall strength and suppleness and therefore healthy knees.

Hope this helps.

Stronger by throwing a book bag on your back full of weights then do squats, less sore, medication.
NO NO NO - low impact, only, please. I've found that building up to 35-45 minutes a day on a Schwinn AirDyne; 3 or 4 days a week only, will strengthen knees and alleviate pain without any of the tissue damage that you'll get from knee bends, heavy weights, etc.

Good cardio, too. BUT I got it for the knees, and it works.
