my 2 yr old has a white patch of skin on his tongue that looks like milk or burnt skin perhaps?

My first thought was thrush, although it usually doesn't occur in children past infancy. Adding the green tint and the fever, I just don't know. I would say that thrush might carry a slight fever, but not a green tint. If it does turn out to be thrush, treatment isn't antibiotics. It isn't caused by a bacteria. It is caused by a fungus, therefore treatment would be an anti-fungal. First line of treatment is usually Nystatin. If that doesn't work, they'll go to Diflucan. Both in suspension form. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but good luck at the doctor's office tomorrow. I hope it turns out to be mundane and ordinary.

SOunds like thrush. My daughter had it when she was a baby. just take him to doctor because it needs to be treated. it's very uncomfortable for babies.
It sound like thrush and can be contracted by improper sterilization antibiotics or corticosteroids ( used for Asthma in a puffer). It is in the yeast family. A drug called nystatin is usually prescribed for it. It is not life threatening. Good Luck
it is called thrush. it is a type of yeast infection in their mouth. my doctor said it is very common.
my daughter had it when she was a baby. and she was very cranky when she would drink. the doctor told me that it will go away on its own.....it did. but i have heard that they have medicine that they can prescribe to put on the white patches in their mouth.
hope this helps.
Sounds like Thrush which is a yeast infection of the mouth. It's not an emergency, waiting til tomorrow is fine. Don't pick at it or it'll bleed.
Yup...sounds like thrush....my mom actually gets this from her inhaler. Nasty stuff really. Antiboitics get rid of it pretty quick.
wash his tongue with baking soda.
this is pretty common
Candidiasis is alleged to be successfully treated either with home remedies or, in the case of a more severe infection, with either over the counter or prescription antifungal medications. Home remedies for candidiasis include the consumption or direct application of yogurt, which contains lactobacillus (probiotics, "friendly" bacteria that kill yeast), acidophilus tablets or salves, and even lightly crushed cloves of garlic, which yield allicin, an antifungal. Boric acid has also been used to treat yeast infections when gelcaps are filled with boric acid powder and two are inserted at bedtime for three to four nights. Another remedy is to douche with a weak mix of bicarbonate of soda in water (1 teaspoon to 1 cup). Bi-carb soda is alkaline and changes the vagina's acidity temporarily to a higher pH environment in which Candida cannot survive as Candida thrives in an acid environment.
it hapens in the vagina or mouth, like yeast infection... its the same thing
It sounds like Thrush. It's something that can be cured, but you do need to take her to the dr. It's common in babies and toddlers..it's a yeast infection.. see the website for more information

yep i bet its thrush. He needs to see a dr. sometimes babys get it when their bottles are not sterilized, but i would guess a 2 yr. old could get it they will put anything in their mouth. I would give him some tylenol to help him sleep better and call the dr. first thing in the morning.
My first reaction is thrush.
Thrush is an overgrowth of a normal fungus that is present in our mouths and other mucous membranes. Thrush is common in young children, especially if they have recently been on antibiotics. My niece developed thrush after a course of antibiotics for an ear infection. Her entire mouth and throat were white.
It could possibly be dead skin (we slough cells in our mouths just like our skin), or a minor infection.
no i have never seen that in a kids mouth but it sounds like maybe he ate something to hot or usually when a person develops sores in the mouth or on the tongue its from a problem in the stomach, unless its caused by a cut or putting something hot in the mouth. but when i develop a little white sore in my mouth ill take a laxative and the next day the sore will disapear.im not saying this is your sons case at all !! just given you some facts. the best thing to do is keep the doctors apt. to see what exactly the problem is
Is it thrush?
