future back pain question?

Question:
I was wondering if I would have back pain later on in life and if so then how soon. When I was 14 I had a microdiscectomy and then some time later another surgery in the same spot to repair a tear in the dura. The chances of a bad back later on with arthritis and stuff are greater...right? So then about what age could this possibly happen? Is it inevitable? Also, when I go to the gym I always do things to make my back stronger.

Answers:
everyone's body system is different so it is hard to pin point exactly when and if ever the arthritis will affect your back. although you said it is inevitable, i would try to do what i could now to enjoy my life and continue to try to make my back stronger as you are doing. however, there is such a thing of to much of a good thing. be careful when doing those back exercises that eventually after long periods of time you don't begin to make your back worse again. you sound like a determined person, and who knows by the time arthritis begins to affect you in the back there may be new treatments to relieve back pain by then.

I think you're on the right track - muscle strength in the surrounding area is one of the best ways to combat the onset of ANY joint pain. Good luck!
thats good you keep in shape that will help alot, but I think you might feel it around mid 30's mainly the arthritis part like when there are weather changes you might be stiff but just keep up the gym
