My son has eczema,he's 6,what kind of detergent do other mothers use?
Question:
Answers:
My daughter has eczema also, it is awful.
Try not to use any soap or detergent on his skin or cloths. Fabric softner is particularaly nasty.
I wash all her cloths in a small amount of liquid ivory snow as it seems the mildest.
I know for my daughter the salt water (ocean) and sun help her eczema the most.
moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. we use an oatmeal base skin cream as well as that nasty cortisone.
Hope this helps a little
Also Avino oatmeal bar soap really helps the itch.
Other Answers:
Cortizone cream. If that does not work, you can get stronger creams at the Dr. office.
Just visit this link and you'll know why http://www.charitynetwork.blogspot.com Thank you! Have a nice day!
Use laundry soap without any dyes or perfumes. Don't use fabric softners or dryer sheets, either. Switch his soap to something pure and basic and don't use lots of scents in the house.
you can try the detergents that are clear in color and have no smell. I know that there is one called free and clear but I don't know the brand name. Sorry but I hope this helps!!
I do not know much about this condition, but the best detergent to use is one that does not contain fragrances and harsh chemicals. Try to use one that is marked natural or animal friendly. Try a natural health food store. These stores can stock detergents that clean your clothes but do not aggravate a persons immune system. Try the Google search engine and they may list a natural food store near your home. I wish you the best with your son.
Try yogurt on a spot - the plain unsweetened kind. I know it sounds crazy, but the book I just read on yeast syndromes relates eczema and psoriasis and a lot of other skin diseases to the candida albicans fungus (yeast).
Check out the yeast link at www.hufa.org for more basic information. If the yogurt (because of the acidophilus bacteria) helps stop the itching, start feeding it to him, and then check out an anti yeast diet.
My son has eczema and I use Dreft Detergent, you can get it at walmart, I also use Aveeno bath wash but if your on a budget you can use giggles(oatmeal) that works too. When he breaks out I use vaseline because it keeps his skin from drying out, if its really bad I use utter cream, it is usually by the bandaids at walmart. Hope this helps
