Is not caring about the job normal when you get talk about behind your back?

Question:
I work in mental health and the nurses are very cold in thier practice. They have lied to thier boses about me or they would complain about me when they do the same thing. I swear they spend more time in the office than care about the patients. So the patients likes to talk to me and the nurses do not care for this to be happening. I just listen to them and talk about anything with them and it is a blast.

Answers:
I got the same thing in health care...the nurses unionized?...the ones i worked w/ were. but i was not as plant manager trainee...the whole health care industry is corrupt in my book...politics...playing it safe...no business in medicine...er anywhere else fer that matter...rok on..
I had that happen to me at a state mental hospital where I worked. It is a female dominated work enviornment, and men can be harrassed.
Consider another line of work.

i think you do care about your job if you are enjoying it. don't let it bother you. b/c if it does, than that means it might be true. you have no reason to defend yourself if you did nothing wrong or none of what they are implying. mind your business. and if the boss asks act like you don't know what he is talking about. why would the boss care about rumors? he/she needs proof. and if they do suspect you of anything, they have their eye on you and as long as you do things right. you will prove to them, that what the other nurses are saying is not true.

maybe the other nurses feel threatened by you, b/c you do such a good job at what you do. i don't know. just don't let them get in the way of what you do best.
yep.
Glad you are good with patients. Perhaps you can try to figure out why you are not in their clique and work a repair or perhaps you can get a job elsewhere and start clean.

It is so ugly that this is happening .. but it is .. and it is not unqiue to this place or even nursing.
Sounds like the nurses there have a problem and need to deal with the patients better then they are doing. I do not know what you converse about with these patients but just be careful that you do not offer advise while working there. They can be pretty strict about that. If you are making someone happy by listening though or stirring them away from bad thoughts then I see nothing wrong personally. It sounds like you are a very caring person and like the patients better then the staff Can not say I blame you.

I am thinking that the mental health needs more counselors, psychiatrists and psychologists in the profession that truly care. May be you have found your calling in life. Could it be that you need to go get a career in one of these Fields? Good luck!
You keep your spirit...it is that of a helper.

There are haters everywhere especially on the job! Don't give them anything negative to say about you. Go to work, be on time, do your job, no long lunches or breaks and be pleasant.

Remember you are at a job for one thing and one thing only...to get paid! These are your co-workers not your friends.

Look for friends in Church, they are a little more trustworthy.
very normal, especially if youre getting talked about. they are probably not liking the fact that you are better than them at your job. and trying to lie about you to make you seem like a nutter. the good thing bout job skipping is you get so much experience, although some look down on it and think that job skippers are losers. like i said more experience. if you are depressed, no job is worth that. There are PLENTY of jobs out there.
