the pain will go away in about 2-3 days but when you go back for your follow up they can tell you the status of your infection.Never use Qtips or anything else to clean your ears with but you can get a dropper from the drugstore and some pexoride and drop that in your ears to clean them
Once you are put on anti-biotics, it should clear up in 2 to 3 days at most. Make sure you take all of the meds so it doesn't return.
put hidrogen poroxide in it. it gets rid of the infection. after you put it in your ear wait for it to bubble and then stick a good sized piece of a cottenball. it should go away within a couple days after doing the above
A normal ear infection normally last for 5-7 days from time of diagnoses when treated with antibiotics. An ear infection that isnt treated can lead to perferated ear drum and scarring. This in turn can lead to deafness in later life

5-7 days. you do not need any antibiotics. paracetamol 800mg or ibuprofen 600 will do it. do not take ear drops, better are nose sprays which will stop the ear pipe swelling = the slime can run down and won't bother you anymore. also do not allow any water to touch your ear! do not use the alternative stuff, it's going to hurt you even more.
if it is not getting better, go and see your doctor, then you might need antibiotics (very seldom).
good luck
