If you mean what is done during a general exam this is what it entails, at least where I have worked, which was an internist. Vital signs- temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure. The doctor will also listen to your lungs, and do just a general head to toe examination. This would include a rectal exam to check for any bleeding and to check your prostate if you are male. If you are female he would also do a quick pelvic exam, including a pap. He might also do a chest x-ray. General blood work is also done, plus a urinalysis.
