Why do you feel the effects of "Icy Hot" on the spot where you rub it in but not on the hand used to apply it?

Question:
"Icy Hot" or any sports rub, gives that hot/cold feeling on the spot where you apply it, but doesn't affect the hand used to rub it in. Why is that?

Answers:
The palm of your hand is usually callused, so the rub will not effect it!

Other Answers:
I dont know
its 'cause of the difference of the absorbancy of the skin. less absorbant on the palm, more absorbant skin everywhere else. must have something to do with the fact that we grab everything with our hands, so there has to be a barrier to keep from absorbing all the stuff we touch. after all, we get the cold virus not through the skin in the hands, but in the hands-to-eyes/nose/mouth transfer to the mucus membranes which are much more absorbant.
