Until recently i had hep-c,i was treated for it but it failed,now 3 years later i am suddenly clear how?

i am geno type one.which i am told is the hardest to clear,the peg/interferon of 3 years ago failed to clear it,now without any medication at all the horrible virus has gone.Although my Liver is
very badly damaged,i just don't understand why,after all i went through for that year for it just to go on it's own.any answers please.
