my daughter just had a baby boy and we would like her to have him circumsed , he is 3 weeks old ,?
Question:
we think she should and now
she doesnt really mind.
we love him all the same but want the best
Answers:
I have 3 sons and a stepson, and not one of them are circumcised. When I had my last one, 8 years ago, our pediatrician remarked that it is now about 50/50 in regard to baby boys being "cut". Unless it is a religious issue , then it becomes just a cosmetic issue. (What you think the boys will see in the locker-room, so to speak.) You need to clean it a bit better, but actually our pediatrician said normal bathing usually does the trick, and it is NOT necessary to pull the foreskin back and wash when the child is small, so care is minimal. When I had my first son, my roomate had her son circumcised, and they brought this little fella back screaming his lungs out with gauze and vaseline all over his little member. I know he won't remember it, but by golly I do. I don't think it matters either way.

Men who are circumcised as babies suffer far less irritation of the penile head as they mature; sex is more enjoyable for those who have been circumcised. Many UN-circumcised males suffer numerous infections of the genital tract and penile head upon reaching adulthood. Really, most women prefer the circumcised male.
One for the pro side. It has been proved that a man is less likely to get HIV if circumcised
unless there is a religious reason for circumcision, as a mother and a nurse, i personally advise against it. i have witnessed many circumcisions and each time i cringe. the baby DOES feel pain during and after and i find the procedure to be barbaric and cruel. i have listed a source page which should give you specifics. it is completely untrue that the majority of uncircumcised males have urinary problems. an uncircumcised penis is no more difficult to keep clean than a vagina - just wash it! also, the sensitivity of the penile head is REDUCED in men who are circumcised. (people, please educate yourselves before you answer medical questions.) there are some medical reasons for circumcision in about 1-2% of the population - usually related to adhesions which prevent the foreskin from retracting properly. this CAN cause urinary problems. aside from that and religious preference, my personal view is that there is no reason for this painful and unnecessary procedure.
