is there a way to cure arthritis??

Question:
I'm only 20 and i think i have arthritis in my right hand because my pinkie and my ring finger have been swollen for about 5 months now. plus they hurt. i notice more pain in the morning when i wake up than other parts of the day. the swelling doesn't really go down much at all. i have been taking ibuprophen every day and that helps with the pain but is there something more i can do to cure what i have??

Answers:
First there is absolutely no cure for arthritis at this time. Osteoarthritis is a calcium deposit in the joint and once there it stays. Two biggest factors are past injury to a joint and family history. Diet has nothing to do with it and immobilizing an arthritic joint can make it worse as you really need to keep that joint moving and flexible. At your age it is not unheard of to have arthritis but I would be more inclined to think it is something else. Your best choice would be an evaluation by a physician.

Did you break this finger in the past? Once arthritis sets into the joint, it is there to stay. Do you notice that the knuckle is inflamed? If so, you may have rheumatoid arthritis and this is quite painful--see a specialist.
There is no cure, but major changes in diet can help quite a bit. Lots of resources on line for foods that can help. You sound like you might actually have tendinitis. Keep you finger immobilized for a week and see if that helps. You can tape the two fingers together and that might help. Also a good hand massage can help break up lactic acid that might be building up in the joints. A good acupuncturist of always a good idea and if you are worried about the cost, look up acupuncture schools in your area. The ofter have low cost clinics for the students and the are always supervised, if you are worried about safety. They can also recommend the correct herbs and foods, not to mention help diagnose what the real culprit is.
