good old fashioned honey and lemon mixed in a cup of hot water, does the trick for me, apparently the honey coats your through so you have less irritation. God only knows what the lemon is for but it seems to work for me

do you smoke? give up. see your gp

Aw, I know how you feel. That's what always happens to me when I get a cough. Have you tried taking cough medicine? Like Nyquil? Or have you seen a doctor who can perscribe you medicine? i have the same thing and i cant get rid of it ive went to the doctore and he said there is nothing rong with me♥

do you have allergies?

try some all natural methods if normal otc and prescription medicine won't help

sounds like allergies If you smoke, STOP. Otherwise, do you hang around people who smoke? You're probably allergic to it. If not that, you may have other allergies, maybe to other pollutants. See your doctor, he or she can prescribe something to help your throat.

Your probably a smoker..smoker's cough.

See your doctor. Could be anything.

my asthma makes me cough at night. The night air is worse so you may have a window open at night and that could be why. If not I wish you good luck in finding the cause so you can get a peaceful sleep. i like pie

I have that same exact problem right now. It's not the type of cough that is fixed by cold medicines, because it isn't a cold. The only thing that seems to work for me is use more pillows to prop myself up when I sleep. That way, there is really no way for whatever it is in my chest can settle and cause me to cough.

It could be allergies. I have them and I also cough at night when I lay down. If it ends up being seasonal allergies look for a natural supplement at your health food store called Quercetin. It helps act as an anti-inflammatory, especially for lungs and seasonal allergies. Good luck

Dry, non productive nocturnal cough can be due to several reasons, allergy being the most. It can even be due to small irregularities in your brain centres!! Get checked !! If you smoke, look nowhere.thats the culprit!! Laying on your back can make your cough worse, if you sleep on your back try rolling over onto your side or your stomach to see if that alleviates the cough some. Also a trip to your doctor would help.

Have you checked to see if you have any allergies. Dust mites especially. You can't escape dust mites (one of the worst things to be allergic too) and your matress is the number one highest concentration of them in your house. There are medicines you can take to help supress, and there are special allergy control sheets and spray you can use to help some, but unfortunately for a lot of people, a dust allergy is just something you have to learn to live with.

Make sure blood isn't coming up when you cough. We have to get checked every 6 months at the hospital I work at because of the high risk of getting tuberculosis. Otherwise maybe you have chronic (ongoing for a while now) sinusitis, if you notice that your nose drips a bit-it's also dripping on the inside into your lungs causing that cough. Imagine dripping water into your lungs, you're semi-drowning them. Flonase works to correct that. Rhinocort is good too. Check with a doctor. Why isn't any western medicine available, do you live elsewhere?

Many things can cause this. Acid Reflux can cause this,or sinus problems, or dry mouth, or sleep apnea. Or just plain not getting enough air through your nose. I would start with the air through nose. this was my problem, I would fall asleep and as soon as I would fall asleep i would open my mouth and i would dry out and I would cough. I use the breathe right strips and now I don't do that. If that does not work try making sure your room is not overly dry or damp. Try not to eat or drink real close to bedtime. If none of these work I would see a doctor. Cough medicine has special ingredients in it but the best cure that equally matches it is an alcoholic drink. If it starts when you lay down, you should get a heppa filter from Honeywell and keep it on level one out of two throughout the entire day. You should also keep your bedroom well dusted and make sure that there is not too much humidity in your room. Constantly clean your pillows and bed sheets to get rid of the dust. I have a heppa filter myself, don't trust the ionic breeze from the Sharper Image. Oh, and it's also good to have hypo-allergenic, squishy pillows with goose feathers.
