Are there any trauma nurses out there?

Question:
I am seriously considering becoming a nurse. I am interested in working in trauma.

Answers:
I'm not a trauma nurse but I've worked as a nurse in a practitioner's office. Have you gotten your basics out of the way? Have to start there, then nursing school, if you need to work and go to school at the same time, remember, you have to be available to work your clincials and it's their time, not yours that you have to do it so you work around their schedule, not the other way around. Blood and guts, brains and bodily fluids going to bother you? If so, stop, turn around and find another field. Sick patients, worried family members, vindictive gang bangers, you'll deal with all of them and more. Can you handle that. If you think so, then great! Get with it and become the best damn nurse you can be, they're in short supply.
If you can handle a lot of stress and very emotional people and have the patience and the heart to deal with traumas - by all means go for it.
