is there any way to cure herniated and degenrated spinal discs without surgery?

Why do you want non-surgical ideas? Are your doctors recommending surgery and you are resisting? If so, I think you should reconsider. I had surgery for a ruptured disk about 12 years ago and it was a miracle cure, after a year of agonizing pain. Sure, that was one disk, and you've got a much bigger problem. But if your docs think surgery might help, what do you have to lose at this point? Do you want to have to keep taking all those drugs for the rest of your life, or do you want to get serious about getting better?
Non-surgical ideas -- acupuncture, physical therapy, psychotherapy, etc. -- are unlikely to make much of a lasting difference at this point for you, with such a drastic injury. They sure couldn't hurt either, though. Especially the psychotherapy, to help you deal with the stress, frustration, and anger you must feel from being in so much pain. Good luck and consider surgery if your doctors are recommending it for you.

Some people discover herniated discs upon being x-rayed for something else--in other words, they can be painless. You are on a lot of pain medication. Once pain sets in, it can be difficult to relieve because of associated fear, tension, stress. I really advise you to 1. Begin a yoga program with doctor's ok. This exercise trains you not just to stretch your body but to calm your mind. Stretching can relieve a lot of built-up tension and stress. 2. Begin a regimen of daily meditation. There are books and tapes available to help you get started, but do not spend a lot of money. The library should have some. You need to calm your mind, as there is a mind-body connection that is quite pronounced in back pain. Speak with your doctor--he or she should be aware of pain management techniques such as these, including others like support groups, which can be a valuable source of ideas. If not, please try another doctor. A second opinion is always valuable, especially when the first opinion isn't working for you. You are taking an awful lot of mediaction, but surgery rarely provides relief to back patients. You need to try to also get more rest and perhaps improve your nutrition (including losing weight if necessary) so that your body is in a better position to cope with your pain. Best of luck to you.
if you do not want surgery which alot of people don't try and find a chiropractor that has a decompression machine. it is new just came out within the last year and a half, however the results i have been hearing about and reading about are phenonminal. i do know that it is not cheap rather costly, insurance will not cover it. call a doctor that has one and talk to them about it. see what you think for yourself. it could give you the results you want without the scars. good luck and keep us up to date on your decision. Two of my patients have got spinal surgery in India. One was treated for spondylolistheis by spinal fusion and the other for disc replacement. Both of them are very happy with the results.Their pain and other symptoms due to nerve compression have totally gone.
Spinal Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges spine surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as spine surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website.
The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your spine surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.both my patients had gone to India through the forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps.
