hydrocodone and the military?

Question:
my husband and i had our wisdom teeth recently cut out. well his like 2 months ago. mine, last week. my husband has bad problems with his shins and is in the military. he still had some of his perscription left from his wisdom teeth and took 2 loratabs tonight for his shins. could he get in trouble for that if they were perscribed to him, even though thats not what they were perscribed for? and how long is it detectable in a urine test? i'm just kinda worried if he could get in trouble. and if you are in the military, what rank are you? and if not in the military, then how do you know?

Answers:
he can not get in trouble if they are prescribed and he is still suppose to be taking them. tell him to keep his prescriptions. I am a SGT.

I know how you feel. I have a drug test coming up for a new job and i took some vicodin. Appearntly it is in your system for 4-5 days. But as long as it is prescribed theres nothing to worry about. The military can call the doctor and ask if they prescribed the medicine but its against HIPPA regulations to ask what it was prescribed for. You might want to have your husband get a note from the doctor who prescribed it to give to the military. It should be fine though.
I was in the military and no your husband will not get in trouble. Heck VA supplies me with enough hydrocodone/vicodin to kill a team of Draft horses every month. When the do the pee test they are looking for certain things, even if he test positive, its in his medical records, so he will not get in trouble.
Yes he can get in trouble for abusing prescription drugs. If he is taking someone else or not taking the drugs the way they are prescribed. As long as he is not called in for a urine test. I don’t know how long it should take for the meds to go through his system. It depends. Some meds go through the kidneys (24-48 hrs?) some are in the blood, but those could take longer. Don’t take any more. Hydrocodone is a narcotic a.k.a. Vicodin. So chances are he or you had to sign for the drug.
As for the shin splints. My husband and I both suffer from them. There is a gym shoe by Nike called "360" it helps w/ the shin splints. It takes them away. My husband also said that the military is now starting to do surgeries for shin splints depending how badly you have them. This is for active duty that I know of. I don’t know if they will do it for dependents. I hope this has helped you.
I attached a link to a base that mentions that this is wrong. Plus you can not be picked out for a urine test, it must be random per the UCMJ; unless you do something wrong @ work causing them to test.
