How long have you had that job? If you just started working in those conditions then your back may be having trouble adjusting to it. If you have worked in that environment for a long time then it could be messing up your spine slowly and painfully.
The cause of your pain could be other things as well. It could be gas trapped up behind your ribs. That's always very painfull. Or it could be the linings of your lungs (I forget the name) getting dry and rubbing against each other causing sharp pain. Or it could be heart trouble! Whatever it is you should see a doctor about it, especially if it keeps hurting.
You should probably buy a new office chair that will support your back better.
P.S. Remember, always consult a doctor if you feel the need regardless of advice given on this site.
It could be the position that you are in while working so long on the laptop. Try it at a desk and use a lumbar back pillow so your back is being supported.
It's possible the way you sit at your desk which causes the muscles to become sore. Try getting up at stretching sometime during your work.
i think you posture might aggrevate a pre-exsisting condition. i used to have you same complaint! and it took a car accident to send me to the chiroprator and 14 x-rays to see that i had scolisis (sp?) i thought it was sitting at a dewsk all day too. get some xrays to see which way your spine pulls and compensate by doing some extra strength training on the oppisite arm.
