What are the pros and cons of "plastic" lens eye glasses?
Question:
Answers:
there are different types of plastic lenses available. there is standard plastic (cr-39) that you can always get with a scratch resistant coating. There is poly carbonate that is even lighter in the stronger prescriptions and is safer for your eyes because most manufacturers have uv and scratch resistant coating on it. Plus it is more impact resistant it can scratch or sometimes crack but not shatter like a old style glass lens. They can scratch easier if you do not wet clean them always but for most people they are a better choice.
Other Answers:
one major con is that they scratch easier. one major pro is that they are sooo much lighter.
Pro: extremely light weight especially if your vision is very poor and lenses thick.
Con: Yes they tend to scratch easier but I have heard that there is a lens that doesn't scratch as easy.
