Are all eye doctors crooks? They all have secret fees.?
Question:
The more I get screwed, the more questions I know what to ask.
Any advice?
Answers:
You have to ask the price BEFORE the appointment. Your insurance plan ONLY COVERS an eye exam once every year and only covers for EYE GLASSES. Therefore if you want your children examined for contacts in addition YOU HAVE to pay extra. If they dont charge you money and bill your insurance they are BREAKING the law and the doctor can/will get fined or lose their license to practice or worse. It is common knowledge so that is why the doctor's probably have no mentioned the extra charge because it is the LAW and there are not going to break it for you to save a few bucks. Ask all costs before the visit and INCLUDE asking how much for CONTACT lense exam since it is a seperate exam/ cost. Also if you want to save money buy the contacts NOT from the doctor's office (get a prescription and take it to your local Walmart, Sam's club, BJ's Wholesale clubs, etc whereever they sell contacts/glasses. The one's I listed are the least expensive that I know of. And you do not need to be a member of the clubs in order to buy contacts because it is the law that all eye places and pharmacies must be open to the public at no extra cost).
