Is the benedryl that's in night-time sleep-aids an antihistamine? Can the benedryl cause high blood pressure?

Question:
I have arthritis, bursitis, scoliosis (left shoulder droops lower than the right & spine is crooked), high-arched feet (causes severe pain throughout my entire body), the grissle in the lower spinal neck area is worn so thin that I have a hunch in the lower back-neck area, & I hurt too much! I can't afford a doctor's care, so I take a pain-reliever pm from Dollar General stores to knock me & the pain out, otherwise I get no relief & can't sleep. It's the only thing I could figure out to do, to help myself. I'm very concerned about the possibility of the sleep-aid causing high blood pressure. I certainly don't need that on top of everything else. I've tried to do a web search on the information, but couldn't find what I was looking for. If you have info about it or know where I can get the info, please help!

Answers:
benedryl does have antihistamines in it to calm oneself in related to skin allergies.try ibuprofen for body aches & pains & to keep swelling down. I don't think it will cause hi-blood pressure unless you mix alot of meds..still talk to your doc or a nurse on a health hotline avail.

You really must ask your doctor, and don't be embarrassed. Benadryl is a very old and very safe drug, and veryt effective, but you must never be embarrassed to ask your doctor who knows your health history.

I take normal Benadryl for allergy relief for a sleep aid and I have never had a problem. Benadryl knocks me out faster and lets me sleep deeper than any other sleep aid I have tried. I've never had high blood pressure before using it.
