Can anyone tell me if the medication Neurontin/Gabap. is used for treating Migraines?

Question:
My doctor prescribed Neurontin along with my blood pressure medication (Methyldopa, or Aldomet), in order to control or reduce my migraines. I have read different facts on what Neurontin is used for, but have not read anything about migraines. Thanks for any input.

Answers:
Neurontin is a anti-convulsant, as is Topamax (although a different type). Doctors are starting to use these type of medications as a preventative for some cases of migraines. Anti-depressants are another medication doctors prescribe some patients. Here is a link for a migraine support group on webmd if you would like to look it over.

(I've been taking Topamax for a month now for migraines.)

Go to www.advantrarx.net and click on the blue tab that says drug list. You will see 3 sets of words; each set will say Search Formulary--Abribged Formulary--Full Formulay. click on the third set of words that start with Search Formulay. Scroll down until you see the heading Theraputic Class and look under the Neuromuscular heading. You can also try just typing the name of the drug the name search box. You can also try a name serach on drugs.com which has a very comprehensive list of every medication on the market.
