My ankle?.(Help me please!)?
Question:
My doctor is booked so my appointment is in 4 days!
I need some really good treatments,,... I CANT TAKE THE PAIN!
Any help?
Answers:
1) Have someone go to the healthfood store or naturopathic pharmacy for you and get both some Arnica gel, and some Arnica tablets. Take 3-4 tabs by mouth, letting them dissolve and NOT chewing them, every 15 minutes for the first hour and then 3-4 tabs 4 times/day until the swelling goes down or stops.
2) Ice it, and elevate it above your heart. Laying on the sofa and putting your leg up on the back of the sofa is an excellent way to accomplish this feat. Laying on the floor and putting the injured leg on the sofa or an armchair is a good way also.
3) You can try some lavender essential oil rubbed all over it. This can really help w/ some sprains and internal soft tissue injuries. Get a bowl of ice water. Either add several drops of lavendar essential oil to that and dip a cloth in it, wring it out and apply it to your ankle, or drip a few drops of the lavendar directly onto the soaked cloth and then apply it to your ankle.
4) Wear an ace bandage, being VERY careful not to put it on too tightly.
5) Take some ibuprofen or acetominophen for the pain and swelling if you need to.
6) Some people find that Tiger Balm or Icy Hot is helpful, too, but do not use this within an hour of the homeopathic remedy, or it will antidote it. So will drinking coffee.
7) If the ankle is horribly swollen and bruised, and nothing seems to be helping on this list, consider the fact that you may have a hairline fracture or a chip and look at going to the ER immediately.
8) Good luck and many blessings to you.
wuss..take some aleve..geeze.
listen to me!, this is massive inflammation in your ankle. you need to buy a drug call Motrin. it is NOT over the counter and it works really well. also a few stretches you could do is rolling your ankle. although if this stretch hurts, do not do it.
ALSO IMPORTANT: ice it for 20-30min whenever it starts to hurt. i also might suggest a brace.
you can take 4 ibuprofen every 6 hrs to help with the pain and inflammation. Basic first aid for sprains consists of RICE: Rest, Ice for 48 hours, Compression (wrapping in an elastic bandage), and Elevation of the sprain above the level of the heart. Also stay off of it as much as you can.
ok well take some ibuprofin for the pain/swelling and if you really can't take it go to the emergency room or if your town/city has a promptcare or something like that you could go there... are you sure it is sprained?
i injured my ankle two days ago playing football and i thought i sprained it i walked off the field the pain got progressivly worse today i went into promptcare (not sure if that's what it's called) i got it x-rayed and it turns out i have two hairline fractures in my ankle i'm going to be out for about 6-8 weeks
Ice for twenty minutes every hour, elevate you ankle so it is higher that your heart, an elastic wrap (Ace Bandage), and take OTC pain killers. Ibuprofen 200mg every 6 hours and/or Tylenol 1000mg every six hours. It's good to stagger the doses so that you are taking something every 3 hours. For example; Ibuprofen at 6am, 12pm, 6pm, and 12am. Tylenol at 9am, 3pm, 9pm, and 3am. If you can only take one, take the ibuprofen. It is an anti-inflammatory and will help with the swelling. If you are still in a lot of pain and cannot bear weight on you foot with in 24 hours, I would consider going to an ER or urgent care clinic to get it x-rayed.
