Sunburn!?
Question:
Answers:
there is nothing you can do to speed the healing of the burn or make the redness go away any faster-it has to run it's course.
the best thing for sunburns (and the only thing you should use) is aloe vera gel. put the bottle in the fridge to make it cold-this feels great when you apply it and helps take the sting away.
do NOT use food products (butter,vinegar,milk,yogurt,et... Not only do these form a barrier over your burn trapping heat inside-they also create a nice breeding ground for germs which could cause infection to your burn-that is something you do NOT want to deal with (trust me-i've seen it).
also avoid using lotions, oils,or creams. these too trap heat inside your burn making it worse.
ice is a big no-no too. the severe cold can further burn your skin so avoid this.
when showering, use luekwarm or cool water if you can stand it. this will help release the heat trapped inside the burn and the cool water won't irritate it.
when you start peeling, it's ok to use a non-perfumed lotion to help keep your skin from drying out.
hope this helps
Yeah, what your doing is great but since you are already burnt, all you can do is constantly put cream on, use your treatments and wait for the peeling. Maybe in 4 days, the burn will turn into a nice tan for pic day.
You are doing everything you possibly can.I would also take some ibuprofen to help with pain and inflammation.A cold compress is like a washcloth with cool water on it applied to the area or a plastic ziplock bag with ice in it applied to the area.
It sounds like your doing all you can which is good. The fastest way to get rid of a sunburn is to keep it cool and relieved constantly. Something to try is simply running cold water over the affected area. Also, put your Aloe Vera in the fridge(not the freezer or else it will explode!) and apply during the middle of the night (this feels really good and helps me).
The second day is the worst so if you can survive it then the hard part is over :-)
