I have questions about broken bones can you help me out?
Question:
If it is broken they have or but they don't have any medical insurance. They knows the ER will see them and do the x-ray and put it in a splint, but will the ER fix and set it if that is needed? Will they call a orthap. Dr in who will fix it say with in a few hours, there at the ER or does my friend have to be sent to the orthap DR. office.
Sorry for all the questions. They are scared they may not be able to get it fixed. Thanks
Answers:
Sure, the bone could be broken. It could be pulverized. And there could be lots of other damage as well.
Get the person to the ER, worry about the health care stuff after. I hope you guys reported this to the police.
Depending on the damage, this might become infected, and without care, your friend might lose the arm.
Get help, please.
Sometimes it can be set in the ER. Sometimes they have to cal in ana orthopedic doctor to set it and cast it or possibly reduce it in an OR. It depoends on the break and if it is dislocated. However the complications of not fixing a break are far worse than bills from a broken arm.
Of course it could be broken. It could require surgery to repair it. He should go to the ER, who will then xray it, set it (if required), and put it in a temporary cast. They will give him the name of the orthro doctor who is on call, and he would have to arrange an appointment with him/her. Sometimes, the ortho doctor may be in the hospital seeing another patient, in this case he would then come to the ER to see your friend. Sometimes, if you go to ER during the day, then your friend would have a better chance of seeing the ortho doctor.
I think that you should ice it for no more than 1 hour alternating websites and go to a doctor because the arm needs medical attention now, also check out web m.d for more information, and wrap it up in an elastic bandage to prevent swelling because yes it may need surgery and it may be worse than you think, so go now!
Get a cheap flight over to the UK and it would be treated free of charge immediately.
