What does the abbreviation m.c.l stand for when u have a knee injury?

Question:
i injured my knee and the doctor was speaking about acl and mcl. i know what acl stands but what does mcl stand for?

Answers:
MCL= Medial Collaterial ligament
it is the ligament on the inside of your knee which provides stability when your knee moves form side to side This ligament is usually injured with a valgus force placed onthe out side of the knee causing the knee to buckle inwards, it can also be injured if the knee is twisted while the foot is paltnted

If your have injured your MCL then your knee will feel like its going to "give way" and may buckle to the inside...

Hope this helps.
acl and mcl are the muscles that control the movement in your knee, if you tear them that is really bad and you more likely then not have to go into surgery, if it is just stressed, pulled, or constricted it is not as bad, but not a good thing.
